OK--move update.
My sister and her husband went to look at an apartment for me over the weekend. It's the top floor of a large house with five apartments total. It's in good condition, in a decent neighborhood.
Because of being the top story, it's got steep ceilings and funky shaped rooms which I like but will make bookcases a challenge. And it's up two flights of stairs, which will be good for me, once I get used to them. And there's no laundry onside, but a laundromat around the corner.

Maybe a sectional?
This is one I've looked at that could work.

@tyghebright
Looks nice and clean. Maybe a futon instead of a couch?
Congratulations.
@tyghebright couch goes up the stairs horizontally and once it hits high ceiling, goes vertical to wherever it is going to live. I like the space, love the angled ceilings. Looks nice and clean
@tyghebright my biggest question with the place is where's the shower? @Heucuva8 and my first place together was a similar place but he couldn't standup properly in the shower. He had to crouch because it was in a funky slanted ceiling area.
Oh, that's a good question.
It's hard to tell from the photos. I'll have to ask my sister how it looked in person.
I remember that. I THINK we posted about it here on #CoSo. Our first place had a gaping hole in the wall we didn't discover until we packed up to move because furniture was there when we moved in and we never changed it.
Lesson: ALWAYS move furniture around that comes with the place.
And those stairs ARE hard on couches. We have a similar situation now. That's why all 3 of us have recliners instead. 😅
@tyghebright it looks really nice! Hope you are able to get your furniture in okay.
What a fun space!
I am a little concerned about getting furniture up those stairs.
And about bad days with my hip arthritis... though I honestly think that regularly using the stairs will greatly help with that in the long term.
The laundry will be a PITA, but will force me to get outside at least once a week.
I could keep looking... but I think I'm going to take this place. Which means a major item off my checklist, and I can move in by the end of the year!
(Though probably it'll be January 1 or 2nd.)
