Uuugh I was just thinking I could avoid slogging through catching up with current events for just a day or two while I hunted down and eradicated all sources of smells after the "a trailer home without power is a tin can in the sun" event and now I see something about leaked Trump tapes omgs noooo I have so many chores to do
Decided to throw myself into the nostalgia.
I think of all the things I experienced that rocked my world view the most when I lived on the streets, it was the discovery that the anarchists of pre-Katrina New Orleans traveled in bands loosely organized like gangs. In crews. With a leader, and a second in command. Anarchists. Organized. With leaders.
Meanwhile, we've been providing shelter for various caterpillars (who so far all seem to be buckeyes), and here is emergent butterfly #2.

I was so worried about my garden while I was a climate change refugee being pampered by my MIL, but I came back and almost everything was in bloom, including the bee balm that finally decided to bloom this year. Now I have bees, glorious bees, itty-bitty bees, bigger bees, fuzzy butt bees, shiny gem bees, native bees.

How did I get into #sheep? #OriginStory I once lambed a Hog Island sheep at Mount Vernon in the rain. My mother had hiked down to see the crypts and I stood under an eve and watched the sheep. One ewe was in labor, which I noticed out loud. A guy from Iowa wondered aloud where the shepherd was and tagged a passing employee, who had a radio. As the sac with the lab slid out and the ewe did nothing, I asked Iowa what needs to happen next (he grew up with cows)?
The winds from the storms knocked down so many lichen covered branches, we had fun gathering supplies for cleaning and redecorating the frog's terrarium, as soon as I get a chance. Meanwhile, I will mist the bark, and let it wait under my plant lights. Also, vanilla vine update.

Yay, I'm home! We live in Tulsa, so after the power still wasn't back on after two days, my MIL rescued us, we had no idea how huge the blackouts were and were all a bit delirious from the heat just waiting for it to come on "any minute". So, we got to visit the cabin in the country for a week, no wifi, but lots of critters to chase :). Well, off to clean the fridge. I am very much regretting not taking the chicken out before we left, I can smell it ten feet away with the freezer closed. Sigh.
Nature, science, and art are super cool. Terribly sorry for the stuff that doesn't fit.
