If your faith in your "common sense" outweighs your interest in investigating and testing whether the things you believe are true, you will never know anything beyond the things you already believe to be true.
"Common sense" tells people that the Sun rises and sets above the Earth, that the Earth is fixed in place and neither revolves nor rotates, and that you must be the center of the universe because you're always *here* and only other people are ever *there.*
Yet none of this is true.
@Alfred If Elon Musk releases an army of AI designed to oppress free speech and promote white supremacy, will you fight for us?
Morning thought:
Take some time this weekend to go for a walk (or a roll) somewhere where you can see trees and hear birds singing, and think:
The same air that the bird breathes to make its melody is the same air that I breathe.
The same ground in which the tree is rooted is the same earth I stand on.
The same sunlight that gives life to the leaves and grass is the same light that gives me warmth and vision.
We're not all living in separate boxes. We're all in the same house.

@rfloyd7 Oh, dear gods, please don't take the "good" newspaper too seriously. Husband number two was a journalist, very much wanted to report on shady goings on for several local businesses, was shot down on every proposed article by his editor with the standard comment, "we can't print that. They advertise with us."
We really do have to keep critically thinking everything until we die. It's not only sad and exhausting, it's also true.
So when I was 19 I wound up in New Orleans with some gutter punks (pre-Katrina, circa '96), they used to pick up my sleeping bag at dawn and shake it chanting that it was time to go "fuck shit up". We wound up at the outdoor pedestrian mall. I finally asked what we were doing there, why did we go there every day, how were we "fucking shit up". "Brat," they said, for that was my street name, "we are being seen where we are not welcome." This motivates me often. It should motivate us all.

Nature, science, and art are super cool. Terribly sorry for the stuff that doesn't fit.
