Even the atheists have a right to feel a connection to the return of the sun, the days beginning to lengthen when the earth is barren, the hope of spring and renewal, in a totally secular way. @kel Once upon a time, some of your ancestors may have wandered into the night so the younger family members had more to eat, enough to last until the grain was fruitful again. The blood harvest (Samhain) is about the sacrifices we make to ensure the survival of the strong, and gosh, aren't you glad they did that? Fuckin' refrigerators and preservatives are awesome.
