@redenigma Meanwhile I've come to the conclusion that our educational system (which does not issue homework), is so eroded from pullung funds away (and trying to pour them into Christian schools), that I've told the youngest that if we don't homeschool, she will have to do homework for me. They won't even teach how to sound out words, telling her she must memorize each word despite the fact that method is shown to decrease literacy rates. They certainly won't teach her history properly.
@redenigma Oh. And after hearing how they told her to IGNORE me when I try to teach phonics, she will be homeschooling again. Probably until we get land and move.

@tippitiwichet i don't get phonics, but then, i was reading before i even knew the alphabet. i just figured out the squiggles meant something by the order they appeared. i suspect i was memorizing whole word, but i was 2, what would i know... my mother thought i just memorized the book because she read them so often, until i had to ask her what "thermometer" was in Sam & the Firefly. then she gave me the newspaper & asked me what it said & i read it to her.
@tippitiwichet i was pretty shocked they don't teach spelling (although it's pretty obvious online now, that people never learned to spell)
