It's a tiny nymph, and might be a blacklegged or deer tick.

I submitted photos to the state agency for ID but that's my guess based on images.

I was just about to jump in the shower when I found it. Now that I've gone through dealing with this, I'm going to actually do the shower thing and bring a mirror so I can check more thoroughly.

This should be a "friends with benefits" feature, to tick-check each other!
