Really starting to wonder how much of the "don't bother trying to change anyone's mind" dialogue is encouraged by people who don't want a progressive movement to grow, given the unwillingness of people to convert and recruit new supporters.

This usually comes from unthoughtful, inarticulate people who are unable to explain why they have the opinions they have; and from people who prefer to be in a tiny clique of pure, righteous people, the smaller the better.

@DavidSalo Good point. When I think to it, I personally chose to avoid conflict (pre 2020 when I saw the to need to converse get more critical). Then I started taking notes on things. I did that because I knew I would get flustered and frustrated otherwise, that I would devolve into flustered mess and might provoke my own anger by trying to communicate. I suppose if I didn't have that awareness and had actually attempted communication, I would probably be more frustrated in general.
