Really starting to wonder how much of the "don't bother trying to change anyone's mind" dialogue is encouraged by people who don't want a progressive movement to grow, given the unwillingness of people to convert and recruit new supporters.

@tippitiwichet i don't bother to try & change rigid con minds b/c it usually devolves into them telling me i'm sub human, inferior, & too woke given i actually believe in the worth & dignity of peeps & that i'm a woman of colour. it is also, often unsafe for me to have that convo depending on venue & who i'm speaking to.

& i could put myself at risk & subject myself to verbal abuse & bigotry only to make zero headway. that seems a very low roi. i'm not interested.

@singlemaltgirl This is a common conversation, yes. And you have to put on some armor for them. And no, if you don't want to do that, you don't have to. However, going around telling each other not to try changes nothing. I 100% promise you that my angry mind has been changed before with the words of a frustrated black woman who tried to get me to understand things I didn't want to hear, and I heard them later when I calmed down. However, I'm def not telling you to put yourself at risk.
