So the situation with our water has taken an interesting turn. When I said the smell in our glasses was similar to my aquarium I wasn't far off. When you setup aquariums you often have to deal with sometimes outbreaks of heterotrophic bacteria ... when you have them it can cause your water to look white and cloudy. Treating it with autotrophic bacteria can reverse that and stabilize the tank. I have been dealing with heterotrophic growth and I know that smell well ...

Whether this is the normal and "acceptable" amount of bacteria in tap water I don't know. I would need to have it tested by a professional to see. If this is normal for suburban tap water, EVEN WITH a REVERSE OSMOSIS system ... I think that is incredibly scary.
Fishtanks should not SMELL bad. If they do, you have a problem. My tap water smells like my fishtank ... which means there is probably a problem.
@thewebrecluse Amazon sells chlorella testing kits for your water 💦
@LegalCAT I think I would probably prefer a professional to come and test it. Then I would have something more definitive to take to the landlord if need be.
Yeah, that sounds like a potentially serious issue.
@tyghebright @LegalCAT Could be. I need to call a water treatment place to see if I can get someone here to do a professional test on this water. And soon.
So the water I was testing the other day, I have left out on the counter for a whole day and when I smelled it just now ... there was absolutely NO ODOR. None.
