Already been too long.
@t_lang
I think there'll be a move to vacate the seat within 2 weeks, as he tries to squirm out of some of his concessions. The first move or 3 will fail, but he'll be out within 4 Scaramuccis. Do you have a prize in mind?
@t_lang As long as he keeps his promises to the 20 holdouts. If he shows any independent thought he's out but in this regard I think he has the problem licked.
Keep in mind that removing him will create a problem. Who could replace him and get the support of the 20 holdouts? It would have to be another limp dishrag just as smarmy as McCarthy.
So I think he'll last a long while also because it will take him a while to realize this job isn't what he expected or wanted.
I heard one of the concessions is that any member could ask for a vote anytime to replace him. So, if the Democrats ever outnumber the Republicans, can't they install a speaker and start putting Senate bills to an up/down vote?
@AlphaCentauri @t_lang I heard the same but that agreement was with the Republicans. I doubt that would hold true with Democrats. That said they could just have a vote for a new speaker. I don't think they would need McCarthy's permission if they became the majority.
I’m more interested in how McCarthy will act/operate with a figurative Sword of Damocles hanging over his head. If he doesn’t kowtow to the Tenacious Twenty, he’s toast. If he does, he's useless.
However, I give him 1-3 weeks.
@t_lang
He’s only holding the gavel in publicity shots.
Typical hypocrisy of the gop.
