@sumpnlikefaith I remember when I moved up from CGA and Hercules monochrome monitors to VGA... with 256 shades of grey!!! Woohoo! and a whole MEG of extended ram, which I had to power down and switch out for a meg of extended ram if I wanted to use the DTP Ventura.

@Pat_Walrond @Lucky188 @feloneouscat @TheAbbotTrithemius I had a Hercules monitor to start, too! It was pretty high resolution for its time, but its ability to render motion graphics was less than rudimentary.

My Dad's setup (a shiny, new 386) could go all the way to 1024x768 in four whole colours. That blew my young mind...but it was all but useless on a 15" CRT.

@sumpnlikefaith For all the upgrades and eye-poppers that I've been through, I still retain a fondness for my C64 and still the best game I've ever had called Elite, a space/trading/fighting game.

And I'm still in awe all these years later of all the stuff thos coders used to pack into 64 megs of ram. They obviously weren't paid like MS coders, by the line... hahaah

@Pat_Walrond @Lucky188 @feloneouscat @TheAbbotTrithemius So true! Those constraints sparked such creativity!

BTW I just confirmed -- it was 64 kilobytes!

I never had a C64, but several of my friends did, so I was pretty familiar with it.

@sumpnlikefaith Oh goodness yes... 64K of ram... that's almost like having to re-learn units ...lol @Lucky188 @feloneouscat @TheAbbotTrithemius
