Watching the. WHCA Dinner tonight. It just seemed the audience was subdued.
Many of the expected jokes from headliner Colin Jost fell flat and seemed inappropriate. Everyone realizes the country is not normal right now.
Biden's remarks began with expected jokes but finished up in serious campaign mode.
Guests had to pass Gaza protesters on the way into the building.
It's all another confirmation we are living in a critical time in history.

I’m reading a book about Hitler and the Habsburgs and this stood out to me:
“To him, immigrants were a cancer stealing his future and destroying Austria. Their (Habsburgs) social and economic success personally stung him. He came to believe that people of different races, cultures, languages, and religions threatened to marginalize Austria’s German population, making them a minority in their own homeland”
/Sounds exactly like the GOP and their dogwhistles about immigration and the border.

Perhaps. But why in the world should some nebulous distinction of "private" versus "official" even matter at all?
If an act is illegal, it should be at risk of punishment from our criminal justice system.
The only backstop left to us is ensuring Trump does not win the election in November.
This will be no small task, given his continuing rule and law breaking.
History in the making.
I fear we are all watching the eradication of the fair rule of law in America.
By the time SCOTUS hands down the opinion, "law" will be applied based on who you are instead of what you do.

I'm listening to the SCOTUS debate over Presidential immunity.
It's sickening to observe Justices taking a magnifying glass to our Constitution in a desperate attempt to find some esoteric, convoluted reason to lift Donald Trump above the law.
The current Supreme Court is broken. We need a plan to fix it. Read about it below.
I'm so depressed to think about the VERY large section of America that will not, and may never, see the immoral, sleazy nature of this man Trump as it is displayed in the ongoing trial.
