Just watching an MSNBC story about many school districts moving to a 4 day week. They never once mentioned whether the school day was extended. Therefore I assume it wasn't.
I'm sure this is good for teachers and popular with students. But kids need more classroom hours to be ready for 21st Century life.
@CarmenSlamdiego @Lucky188
I certainly agree. And it can't be very hard to write such rules, IF you are guided by fairness and common sense instead of a quest for power.
@sloudermilk This is a kafka-esque nightmare. The Senate rules can be changed with a simple majority vote, BUT…under the current rules, a rules change can be filibustered, in which case it takes a two-thirds vote to stop the filibuster.
So maybe the Democrats can’t change the rules, but they can try, and that would force the GOP to go on the record supporting Tuberville’s treason. (Yeah, they’ll claim it’s about other stuff, but it would give the Dems more fodder going in to 2024.) #politics
@Countessa
Go ahead and scream. I'll join you.
The big three broadcast television networks have lost the thread of what their true function in our democracy needs to be. I sent them all a reminder in the form of this link today. Might be screaming into the void, but I do feel better.

@ToolPackinMama
Agreed. But all Senators are allowing his shit to continue. And they don't have to.
As near as I can tell, this "Unanimous Consent" rule in the US Senate, that Tuberville is using to block all senior military promotions,is completely incomprehensible. For sure it's stupidly inefficient.
This is no longer just Tuberville's fault. All Senators are culpable for letting this charade continue and for not updating their stupidly outdated rules
It's time for everyone to pressure our Senators, regardless of Party. This is embarrassingly childish and destructive.

Dear Media, please read.

And the proceedings in Fulton Co. show how critical it is to have live video in courts.
Why are our federal courts so short sighted? We need to see all the Trump trials. It would go a long way in bolstering public confidence in our judicial system.
Sen. Whitehouse Lodges Ethics Complaint Against Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito
It was fascinating to watch Judge McAfee hear Powell and Chesboro's motions in Fulton Co.
He's got the thankless task of deciding speedy trial rights against the obvious need to try RICO defendants together.
I thought the prosecutors obviously had their shit together. They were very impressive. It's ONE case. And if you sever some defendants, Judge, you'll hear the same case multiple times. (Sounds smart to me).
It seems there will be at least 2 trials.
@IrelandTorin @LnzyHou
Well, maybe.
But I choose to believe there are more intelligent, clear thinking voters in "the masses" than dumb asses with poisoned minds.
And I'm confident of many more people who value their own opinion over anyone posing as "elite".
Cheers,
Dear news media,
2016 popular vote:
H. Clinton - 48.0%
D. Trump - 45.9%
2020 popular vote:
J. Biden - 51.3%
D. Trump - 46.8%
46-47% of the popular vote is the MOST that Trump can hope to get in 2024. And that's extremely likely to drop with felony convictions coming.
So what makes you think a 2024 race between Trump and Biden is a dead heat?
Better get some new pollesters.
Or better yet, shove your polls and report on the candidate's policies and character.

Another day, another headline that makes me seriously wonder how I jumped to an alternate reality.
Does anyone in his party actually listen to the words he says?
It's stated plainly in the Constitution that he's ineligible. You can't get a more firm legal basis than that.

They NEVER change. These memes sound as though they were written today. But I found them in my memories from 2014. 😳
