When you have donors like Tom Strickler from WME telling Senators like Martin Heinrich "If you don't publicly call for Biden to step aside, you are not getting a dime from me.", you can plainly see where this push to get Biden to step down comes from. This is purely from donors and they are doing this purely because they want Trump's tax policy. So many people just parroting talking points they hear without even looking at where these ideas are coming from. SMDH

@Superstitionsee I think Biden is holding on because he understand that big donors are asking him to step down to avoid paying taxes. He is well aware that the press is helping incite calls for him to step down and he knows these calls come from executives who are opposed to his tax policies. He is a sharp guy, and if people would listen to him speak rather than listening to pundits, they would hear that. He never was my favorite candidate, but he is doing pretty damn good, and isn't too old.

@Tarnagh Republicans don't play by the rules, and the Democrats are very unlikely to challenge a change in VP in court. That is one of the huge differences here. If the Democrats try to change their ticket, Republicans have already lined up legal challenges to any change in the ballot. Democrats would never dream of doing the same. So, Trump could change his mind on VP and the world would give him a free pass. Just like with laws.

The rich only care about paying taxes. They will do anything to avoid having to pay taxes. They do not care about any party affiliation, nor do they care about serving the people. Follow the money. The people who are asking Biden to step down all stand to pay taxes if he continues. Why on earth would you support this? None of us are rich enough to not pay taxes.

Please stop listening to talking heads and pundits. Please stop engaging with the corporate media.

Never underestimate the Democrat party's ability to shoot itself in the foot at the last second.

This morning, I saw a suggestion that all of this nonsense trying to divide the Democratic party would start up again with force. What truly surprises me is the number of people who immediately jumped right back in to the fray, once again calling for a candidate to step down. The only thing that causes me to waver in hope is the amount of people who are trying to guarantee a fascist takes power by bickering over the candidate that they have now. There are 110 days until the election. Too late.

@bmacmixer I desperately hope that my silly prediction is completely off-base, and that we finally get a government that starts to work "for the people". I get that the cynical viewpoint isn't always that constructive, and is more me venting into the void than anything. I will still vote, I always do.

@bmacmixer In a way, it is just me being cynical. I base my silly prediction on what happened in the 2020 election. I have this sneaking suspicion that our government is a for-profit organization that mainly exists to line its own pockets. The people asking for Biden to step down are all rich and powerful. They all seem to want to preserve that wealth and power at any cost. That simple motivation overrules party affiliation. I think our country has fallen to simple greed.

It is cynical.

@bmacmixer Could you expand a bit on your question? I don't just want to answer 'What is the point of what?'

Here is my silly prediction for November:

Biden will win, it will be dramatically close to maximize ratings.

Democrats will win the house and senate, but just barely. They will win just enough of a majority to make sure that nothing can change. If they win a seat or two too many to break the stalemate, we will have a couple of defectors (See Sinema, Manchin) that will again muck things up.

The idea is to keep things the way they are while appearing to change.

Appearances matter.

@MHS_Jenkins I might be missing something, but my reading of it seemed to just confirm that the GOP is now the party of Trump and that they no longer have a platform other than the embrace of the personality of Trump. Did you find some other meaning in this article that you could share with me?

@dgarcia Nancy Pelosi's net worth in 2018 was $114,662,521. She doesn't want to pay taxes. In the class war context, she is on the side of the wealthy.

Dumbest season of The Apprentice ever.

Forgot all about the Epstein files. Forgot all about that whole Biden is too old thing too. Forgot all about those felonies and not being sentenced. Forgot all about those crazy Supreme Court decisions. Forgot all about Biden's outstanding performance yesterday.
Right back to 'All about Trump" again, aren't we?
Never gets old, does it?
