Good morning.
I have finished making the arrangements and Friday we should have my mom’s ashes at home.
Now it is a matter of reminding my dad every morning that she is no longer here.
My poor wife has Covid so I have to take care of her away from him so he doesn’t get it. So far she is the only one in this house that has it.
Yesterday our dog had a seizure so I have to figure out a time to take her to the vet. She doesn’t seem to have any issues now.

Great day, and stay safe!

@sghamel I'm wondering why you have to tell your pops every day? I imagine he has dementia. Wouldn't it be more calming for him to think she stepped out to the store? I couldn't imagine breaking his heart every day would be good for either of you, and he won't know the difference.

@MayraMM
Yes, he does have dementia, but early stages. He would constantly ask where she was if I did not tell him the truth. At least this way it is only one time a day. He is starting to understand that she is gone I think.

@sghamel That is so sad. I'm sorry for the loss of your mom and this steady loss with your dad.

@sghamel

Damn, that sounds like a helluva lot for you to deal with.

Try not to burn yourself out.

@sghamel I’m so sorry you’re going through all of this. I know it’s stressful at the moment and may be overwhelming at times. But you got this. You have us to lean on as you are going through a lot of stress at the moment. Please remember that!

Stay strong 💪 and one day at a time. Remember to grieve too(I know it’s hard to find time but you need to let it out too). Maybe go run on the beach (or walk lol) early morning to clear your head when it gets to be too much.

@sghamel Sorry to catch up and read about your mom PV. May she rest in peace and may your family begin to heal.

@sghamel Take time to care for yourself as this busy week has you spread thin. Sorry for the loss of your mother and the care of your father. When it rains it pours, hoping things get better soon.

@sghamel Oh dear. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom and these other issues. 🙏

I was wondering if your dad might have given the dog something to eat that caused the seizure. I don't know how you would check on something like that but it might be prudent to keep them apart. It may also be possible that your dog caught COVID (at least I believe they can catch it) which could also explain the seizure. Maybe keep the dog and your wife away from your dad for the time being.

@danielbsmith
My dad had no contact with the dog so that would not be it and I have asked the vet on the phone about Covid but really no way of knowing without blood test and check up. Hopefully a one time thing. She doesn’t seem to have any ill effects from it.

@sghamel @danielbsmith What is the age and breed of the pooch? What are you using for flea and tick prevention?

@MidnightRider @danielbsmith
She is about 6 years old and I can't think of the name of the meds but it has not changed since we got her over 5 years ago.
