I must say, as unhappy as I was with folks forcing Biden out, I think it might have been the right call.

I feel energy like I did in 2008. Harris doesn't have decades of negative press to contend with, as Hillary did, and this time, there's no spoiling from other candidates.

I'm allowing myself a bit of hope...

@sfleetucker They now have less than 105 days to do a smear job on her. Not that they won't try, but in such a short time they won't do much except piss more people off.

@sfleetucker I thought all my friends that were in support of upending Biden were nuts and that the result would be chaos at the Convention. I was wrong and some strange part of me thinks that Biden was hanging on just to screw up the other party's plans. Whatever, it seems to be working very well. Just because it had never been successfully pulled off before wasn't enough not to try.

@altucker @sfleetucker I am genuinely shocked at how quickly and fervently Democrats have coalesced behind Harris. after the shitshow that was 2016 and the 2020 primaries, I didn't think we stood a snowball's chance in hell with anyone but Biden. but now I actually have a tiny shred of hope that we could actually pull this off...

@dietotaku @sfleetucker I think most of us understand the stakes of this election. We want more elections - that's pretty much what the risk is.

@sfleetucker I think Biden is a great president, but I also this this was a brilliant move by him. She has momentum, they’re not ready. This is going to be epic. I have hope too.

@sfleetucker If you can find it, listen to the first segment of Lawrence O’Donnell’s show from last night. He was in the same boat as you (as was I), but he said essentially he’d take Joe’s lead and follow it. I think the pressure, while I despise how public it was, simply focused Joe’s mind on things differently, and allowed him to come to his decision. And if Joe says it’s the right thing to do, it probably is. But Lawrence’s commentary was a tribute to President Biden as well as a comfort.
