Crap! Something is eating my basil! 😖

Ok, all you gardeners, what should I do?

@see_the_sus show ‘em who’s boss and eat the basil first

@peeppeepcircus @annamuneca

Y’all crack me up! There’s only so much pesto I can eat!

@see_the_sus
One approach is to plant more basil plants so you won’t miss what gets munched. If thats not possible check the stems and underside of leaves for caterpillars or other munchers & pick them off.

@Nimblewill

Not going to plant more than what I have being as it’s just me and my small patio and nothing on the leaves.

@see_the_sus Any slime trails? My biggest enemies are slugs and some underground beetles.

@BlueStateBabe

No slugs around here in the desert. Just lots of cockroaches and grasshoppers, although I haven’t seen any hoppers yet.

@see_the_sus
Could it be a Leaf Cutter Bee? I watched one a few summers ago turn the flowers of a geranium plant into lace.
It cut out perfect circles on the tip of every petal on the plant. Kept coming back for two entire days until the job was done. 😂
Can you get some netting, like a bridal veil, and wrap the pot & plant with that?
These bees are small, like a large house fly.

@Krysdammit

I'm going to go with @Brandy and @Tarnagh 's suggestions and use diatomaceous earth. I already have a bag because I use it to keep spiders out of the apartment, so I wont' have to spend any money. Yay!

Never heard of the critter but I'll try to keep an eye out for it. I do have a big problem with flies because my (street-sized) trash & recycling bins are inside my patio (no other place for them).
