Anyone else name their laptops/PCs? My new one needs a name. Current possible name is Beatrice.

@scottyorange always, first for networking purposes but later just because (but not with the phones now I think about it)

@scottyorange

Hmmm, never thought to name my computer but I did name my cane, Norman. 😆

@scottyorange we had a bunch of name-themes for our work laptops and various devices. One theme was named train routes (like in travel books. No, Orient Express wasn’t used). I used botanical Latin variants. We named some device series after kaijiu and obscure mythical beasts.

@scottyorange

Mine: all CPU boxes are named after planets, all hard drives, and external devices, are named after the moons of planets they're attached to, and all Net based servers named after stars.

@scottyorange all of my computers have names. All. I have them networked and they needed names to tell them apart!

Some old ones and the newest, in no particular order:

Fred
Pacman
Baby Blue
Alice
Harry
Perry
Ziggy
Dizzy <--lappy I'm on
Minerva <--the Mac
Lenny

Fred was the first, and was a Win 95/98 lappy that I thing Fred Flintstone used, it was 13" monster & weighed about 15 lbs. Ergo, Fred. lol

@scottyorange
Had a Unix mainframe at work years ago that I named Sybil. If it was today, Marge could work.

@scottyorange

Laptops.

Big Mac
Apple Seed
Mac N Cheese

My first laptop in 2002 was named Baby Dell. Love that computer, it’s in storage now as it’s practically a grandpa with a failing heat sink/fan.

@ceb @scottyorange

Yes! Every laptop/PC does need a name and I have yet to christen this new one.

@ceb what is yours?
