To practice what I preach about assertive self-care, I wrapped my nails.

Lots of online activity in my local progressive circles this weekend. Support groups are forming, with the current goal of mourning and a later goal of fighting. On the human rights page I admin, I suggested three principles we should follow:
1. Assertive self-care
2. Determined community
3. Smart secrecy
Taking care of ourselves so we can take care of business and not spreading our business too far. I feel useful.

Quotable from TV this morning:
"Despair is a sin" ~ John Meechum
"The work of democracy is never done" ~ Ali Velshi

It is and we have to hold on to anything that seems normal, so this is an important holiday. Here is who is squinting because he was probably hit in the face. He saw the doctor yesterday and got tested for FLV and FIV and he is negative for both, got his FLV vaccine and weighed in at 8.6 pounds. Doc says he is indeed large for his age at under nine months.

Sending love to all of you. The love of one who has not been in the same room w you but still knows you and holds you so dear. The love of one oscillating between depression and dredging up memories of childhood when we had to navigate life in an unfree regime. I danced a bit on Wednesday at a rehearsal where everyone had puffy eyes and the mood was glum. But we danced. The next veil circle of twirling gentleness is for you.

Goodnight CoSo! I leave you w a screenshot of something I saw on the book of faces

@CherNohio
That is awful and unfair. Pushing and shrieking with prayers

@CherNohio I just saw it is your birthday and I wanted to send you heaps of love, lots of admiration, and all the well-wishers and prayers I can get my hands on

Waited four months to get in w hematology and today was the day of finding answers and lymphocytes. Except that the institute called when we were already in the car to cancel the appointment. To find professionalism and folks that care about me, I should probably try a nail salon. Because this ain't it.

Thoughts:

Shake off outrage. Yes it will be bad, on so many fronts. Look at it clearly, with calm compassion, and resilience. Anger can motivate, don't deny anger. But shock and awe is a tool they will use to dull your actions. Be prepared. Don't be surprised by the intentional cruelty. There is no shame in retreating, regrouping, if you are overwhelmed. Others will step up. You will not be alone. Small bands of trusted people can do more good than you think. Don't forget the power of song.

@Knitpurrl
I am so very sorry to read this update. I am sending all of you heaps of love and I pray your time with your fur baby will be sacred and sweet while also sad, and that mercy will take unexpected shapes to show up for all of you

Alright loves, I will say goodnight. But first, I will share that I taught my online government class at an HBCU tonight and we vented, and commiserated, and I gave them a pep talk, and it was glorious. Then I had nachos and an old fashioned. I will not fucking roll over.

@AskTheDevil
I haven't read the rest of the exam, but these answers are incorrect and will get zero points. We'll see how the rest goes

@DaveMay62
Exactly - especially because there was teaching about these matters
