Folks, I gave an exam on the industrial revolution/ age of industrialization in the US and the first one I wanted to grade had this which I felt compelled to excerpt. There never was any hope.
@publickovacs how old are these kids?
@singlemaltgirl
10 grade, ergo 16
@publickovacs This is why I couldn't be a teacher. I'd see shit like that, and the write with the dreaded red pen "Are you fucking stupid? See me after class."
@ProjectShadow
Tempting but I shall not do that ☺️
@publickovacs I think we would all be shocked at the quality and content of the media diet of young people these days.
@kwarizmi
OMG yes
The indoctrination starts so young.
"Give me a child until he is seven and I will show you the man"
by Saint Ignatius of Loyola or Aristotle (they can fight it out between themselves)
@ceorl
It is Loyola and the age was four or five, I believe, and yes the quote is sadly completely apropos
@publickovacs @ceorl
How old was this child you graded Mel?
@CinnamonGirlE
10th grade
@publickovacs @ceorl
🤦🏻♀️
@publickovacs
Oh, dear. You know this is what they're hearing at home.
@DaveMay62
Exactly - especially because there was teaching about these matters
@publickovacs You can still give them a failing grade, right?
@AskTheDevil
I haven't read the rest of the exam, but these answers are incorrect and will get zero points. We'll see how the rest goes
