White House employee told Trump about the Capitol riot within 15 minutes of getting back to the White House.

HCR

Trump went to dining room, steps from the Oval Office, and watched the Fox News Channel for more than 2.5 hours.

HCR

No official record of what Trump did. Call logs are blank. Presidential daily diary is also blank. No photos. Chief White House photographer wanted to take pictures, but was told no.

HCR

But the committee knows what he was doing....

HCR

What he WASN'T doing was calling any official to stop the attack.

HCR

Trump was calling senators to get them to object to the counting of the electoral votes.

HCR

We know from Giuliani's phone records that Trump called him.

HCR

At 1:49 DC police declared a riot at the Capitol. Trump tweeted out a link to his Ellipse speech.

HCR

Kinzinger: Trump's staff begged him to condemn the violence and tell the crowd to go home. Cipollone says he was emphatic and clear that people needed to know they had to leave the Capitol.

HCR

Cipollone says lots of people were saying that. And yet, it took more than two hours for Trump to tell them to leave.

HCR

Cipollone and Cassidy Hutchinson both said that Ivanka Trump was trying to work on Trump to tell them to leave.

HCR

Hutchinson says that Meadows said that Trump didn't want to do anything about the "Hang Mike Pence" chants; Trump thought Pence deserved it.

HCR

Cipollone says the chants were outrageous... and expressed that.

HCR

At any moment, Trump could have appeared at the podium in the press room (which is quite close to the Oval Office) and address the nation.

HCR

Matthews says Trump could have gotten on camera in less than 60 seconds.

HCR

Advisors worried about Trump's unscripted comments, though.

HCR

Matthews and Ben Williamson (?) agreed Trump needed to get out there fast to call things off. Press guy Judd Deere, too, went to talk to press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

HCR

At 2:03, Trump called Giuliani. At 2:13, Proud Boys broke into the Capitol.

HCR

This footage remains horrifying. Maybe worse than ever, actually.

HCR

Secret Service tried to get a safe path out for Pence. It was a very close thing. Trump's national security team was listening to the discussion about Pence's security.

HCR

What was meant by the comment that the agents did not "sound good right now"? It means they were worried for their own lives. Called to say goodbye to their family members.

HCR

Running out of options. Getting nervous. Screaming.

HCR

Rioters anger focused on Pence. Storm Capitol in fury at Pence. "Mike Pence, traitor!" "Mike Pence has screwed us."

HCR

Trump did not try to calm his supporters. Instead, he sent the 2:24 tweet saying "Pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done...." Put a target on his own vice president's back.

HCR

Both Pottinger and Matthews say Trump added fuel to the fire.

HCR

Pottinger disturbed and worried that Trump was attacking Pence for doing his constitutional duty.

HCR

Matthews thought the tweet was "giving the green light to these people." Telling them they were "justified in their anger." He should have been condemning the violence.

HCR

Matthews knew how his supporters latched onto his words. Tweeting as he did made things much worse.

HCR

Cipollone, Judd Deere, Cassidy Hutchinson, all condemn the tweet.

HCR

At 2:26, Pence had to be moved again. Violence escalated quickly after the tweet.

HCR

Trump went back to calling Senators, including Tommy Tuberville (R-AL). Senator Josh Hawley earlier had raised his fist in solidarity with the crowd and riled up the crowd. He was protected then, but later fled from the rioters. (Riled them up... then fled.)

HCR

Trump was supposed to insure a peaceful transfer of power and ought to have defended all three branches of government. Even Kushner had to admit that to the committee.

HCR

Walter Shaub

Mr. Fist fled as the terrorists he riled up sacked the building.

HCR

southpaw

What phone was Trump calling these senators on, and why wasn’t it logged? Surely several US Senators could help the committee figure it out.
