Now I don’t know him but I know plenty like him. I can only judge on words and actions.

The words so far terrify me. But I’m OK. I’m a white man living far away from it all.

So yeah, I just think about this when I think about how he’s now the richest man in the world with the ear of the most powerful man in the world.

You get on a bus. A white bus. To a school. A white school. You were told blatant lies. You had to do cadets. Preparing for National Service.

I’d say that played a part in Musk leaving at 18. Just a guess though.

Something that’s been on my mind recently and I’ve mentioned these memories before but in the context of Musk I do think it bears repeating.

1987. Not that long ago right? Now I was about to hit my teens. I’m not much younger than Elon. Moved to South Africa. He lived in Pretoria, me Jo’burg.

We arrived. Within a couple of weeks we had our own maid. If you didn’t take a maid in people would be at your door every day begging you to give them a job. A maid was paid peanuts.

@DavidSalo We just had a big talk and I told daughter it’s a fine line she needs to walk. It’s not cowardice but realise that most people are not like you. Speak out but not at the expense of your own safety. Make good friends and stick together. Be careful of thinking because everyone you follow online has your values that it’s like that IRL because it’s not.

I think many people are unaware of a communities ability to perpetuate continual self harm to spite everyone else.

Working on my laptop while setting up my new mac... moved the cursor from my laptop to the far side and all of a sudden I was controlling the mini.

Dragged a file from the mini and it just comes on across onto the laptop.

No idea how old that feature is but that's awesome.

Sometimes with Apple it really is a "zero setup, this just works"
