Just scheduled my covid booster for the newest variant. I’ve never had the virus (knock wood) but I have to protect my mom who is an elder with a heart condition. It’s on the rise again and I have a-fib now so it’s a given.

/To say I’m angry at the anti vaxxers for letting this thing live on is an understatement. I hate needles.

Feel like taking odds on the fam actually participating in all the stuff that needs doing this weekend would be a mugs game...
Night

First day of nursery school she stood against this wall for her first “first day of school” pic. Today I take her grade 12 pic. I’m a massive range of emotions right now. (Years of her graffiti on the wall as well 👩🏼‍🎨)

@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN Years ago a friend and I decided that middle age is what ever age one’s parents are so you’re good to go!

I don’t mind the cooler seasons - quite like them actually - but it get harder to justify the A/C that drowns out the snoring during the warmer nights … 😴

This is the fifth summer I’ve not had an actual vacation away anywhere. Not happy about seeing this today, beautiful though it is.

Hiya - not sure where you're based but I got an email yesterday from my local freecycle group about a data breach:

"On August 30th The Freecycle Network / Freecycle.org became aware of a data breach on Freecycle.org.... we have been asked to reach out to to you to ask that you change your Freecycle.org password as soon as possible. We very much apologize for the inconvenience.

The breach of data includes usernames, User IDs, email addresses and hashed passwords...

In 1856, a 17-year-old girl named Adeline Harris started making a unique quilt. Over the next two decades, she sent pieces of silk to famous people from around the world and they signed them and sent them back to her. She assembled them into a quilt with a tumbling blocks pattern

@miinx For sure. I use both but I myself don’t like having to fill them out all the time.

@john_b Thanks John - found one at katpatuka.org/pub/doc/anti-spamthat still shows your email in the link hover status bar.👍

friends - another 'she'll pick our brains to death if we let her' question: Any thoughts on using an email obfuscator for contact info on a web site? Supposed to be good for cutting back on bots...

just listening to cbc's interview w/ shania twain talking about her humble start in timmins. she cited dolly parton as a huge influence b/c they both grew up poor & their moms made their 'performing clothes'. both were songwriters & singers.

my views of dolly have changed a lot over the yrs. when i was young, she was portrayed as a joke - the dumb blonde w/ big boobs. & that coloured my view for a long long time, sorry to say. it also speaks volumes about how we often portray talented women. 🙄

There is no biological difference between us, other than superficial, yet we have this powerful dividing force... still... with all the books on the shelves ... with all of the knowledge...

The institutions of Religion, Science, and Medicine created this problem of race we see today.

They're supposed to be our moral compass and unbiased but they played critical roles in creating this mess.

It''s like cancer where if you miss one granular tissue cell, it multiplies and returns..

folks - Ever had fonts you had installed and used for years just disappear? (win10 btw - yeah I know...)

@kel and besides, "August, ... Back then, the month of August was known as Sextilus, Latin for “sixth month.” which includes sexi - or beach bodies in other words...SUMMER!
