WHew! Clothes are hung w the fan on them, sheets in dryer, comforter cover in washer, towels folded and put away, 2 more loads to go today. 🤞🏻 Canned goods rotated into the house. I fixed the thistle feeder so it doesn't close the port at all. Not ideal but cheaper than buying a new one. I have one more feeder to repair today... and hopefully top off the aquariums.
Chili... 1/2
@TrueBloodNet Fenugeek?
@TrueBloodNet I learned something new. Fenugreek.
@poemblaze I use it in almost all soups and sometimes in salad dressing. LOL
@TrueBloodNet Is it hot? I saw mention of curry.
@poemblaze Not at all. :)
@TrueBloodNet 👍 Will try it if I can find one that allows use of EBT.
@poemblaze I'd mail you some but sending a whitish powder through the mail... not great these days. LOL
@TrueBloodNet Bad idea
@TrueBloodNet Danke
@poemblaze I'm a pusher. LOL
@TrueBloodNet It just occurred to me that this is perhaps a natural substitute for MSG.
@poemblaze yep! Along with soy sauce, fish sauce, Worcestershire sauce (has fish in it)... there is also some kelp's that have umami.
@poemblaze It's used in curry to bring out the umami in the other spices. Umami is the 5th taste sense our tongues have. It wasn't understood for a long time. Salt, sweet, bitter, sour and umami.
@TrueBloodNet @poemblaze
I know what salty, sweet, bitter & sour are, but what is umami? Until you can provide examples, it's just a nonsense word. Spices are complex flavors. Attributing a flavor to a spice is like attributing a color to a forest.
@jjGravitas @poemblaze First off, I did. Second, it's not my responsibility to teach you. I do so out of kindness. You could look it up yourself.
Umami provides a rich meaty flavor. It's a sense of robustness. It's not a spice, per se, it's a sense of taste that you weren't aware you had.
@jjGravitas @TrueBloodNet @poemblaze
Before you go telling people a word is a nonsense word because you don't know what it is, maybe you should try finding out what it is.
We're not dumb for knowing what a word means that you do not. You're not even dumb for not knowing it.
You're only being dumb here if you accuse the other person of ignorance instead of correcting it in yourself.
@poemblaze fenugeek is, apparently, a secret ingredient for anything you want to have a savory meaty flavor. It's a veggie that adds umami to a dish. https://www.amazon.com/Spice-Way-Fenugreek-ground-seasoning/dp/B085M17PS4/ref=sr_1_1_pp
