@Sr0bi What a lot of people who aren't weather data geeks didn't notice during the reign, private companies that gathered weather data (often from crowdsourcing) were bought up by big corps (notably IBM - weather underground, and Apple). They now own all that historical data, and don't give it away.

NOAA is the only public source of nationwide climate data. Their data sharing was severely limited during the dark times, when they, NASA, etc were prohibited from publicly sharing info.
