Btw, we don't have push notifications here by design. Nothing demanding your attention until you want to give it. Just gotta check your notification column if and when you feel like it. Takes a little getting used to, but it's nice to be free of demanding apps.

Well, some people are addicted to rage. Others, attention. Still others only have something to sell.

Here, we just vibe. Small crowd. Intimate setting. Like a cozy café. Doesn't mean there isn't the occasional turd in the punch bowl, but we have tools for that. Never be afraid to block or hard/soft mute someone who is harshing your vibe.

@Agatha Never understood how folks can put so much energy into creating situations to rage about when there wasn't enough anger already present to quench them. Very excited to have been introduced to a haven from that mindset (and will absolutely let you know if I need help muting a turd bc ain't nobody got time for that nonsense:) )

Oh! Only people who go pro can initiate a DM, which keeps out the spammers and pests. So if you don't go pro, but do want to dm someone here who is pro, you can just ask them to dm you. I've not gotten even one 🍆 pic in my dms since being here! 😂

Include some kind of keyword or hashtag and you're golden. We can mute posts matching certain textual criteria here.

@evistre Speaking of, how does one go about muting a tag they see out in the wild? Say I was very uninterested in seeing #BumbleButts Tuesday in the firehose, how do I go from seeing the tag to actually muting it? (Only found option to mute the humans and definitely not what I am looking to do for specific topics)

@MediocreTheropod @evistre @millard_jmm The best thing about CoSo is that everybody is courteous. There is no tolerance for bullying and even though we all have different opinions and beliefs we all agree to treat each other with kindness. And we use the mute and block feature instead of fighting.

@elbutterfield @millard_jmm @evistre Love all of that- I am a big fan of respecting others (respect, honesty, leading with kindness, and heaps of typos pretty much sums me up)
So muting v blocking, I am going to take a gander (for transparency have made it though maybe two paragraphs of the help section so far so guessing its in there too) that muting is a one way action, and blocking works both for you seeing a person's posts and them seeing you?

You can also do what I call a soft mute, where you still get notifications from them if they interact with your posts directly, but otherwise don't see them in the timeline. It's part of the pop-up when you mute someone, the option will appear. :)
