And now...suddenly, with its stock price in free-fall, and advertisers announcing that they intend to cease advertising on the platform, Facebook and its CEO can't talk enough about how they intend to reform content moderation.
it's the usual story. Facebook et al have no ethics, no sense of evidence-based evaluation of content. They only care about (a) volume (b) adverts. If either of those declines, they desperately manouver to get them back up.
This shows what we as consumers can do.

A federal judge ordered the release of migrant children held in U.S. family detention facilities, citing the severity of the pandemic.
The order to release the children by July 17 came after plaintiffs in a long-running case reported that some of them had tested positive for the virus. It applies to children who have been held for more than 20 days in the detention centers run by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, two in Texas and one in Pennsylvania.

@flygande_ren p.s. - vaccines work by creating a herd immunity. if magically, we had a vaccine and immunized 65% of the population, the worst case scenario would not happen.
@flygande_ren it is when over 65% of a population has become immune to a disease. For complete protection of vulnerable populations, the immunity needs to be grater than 90%. The maximum exposure to Covid-19 is probably 2% to a maximum of 5%. This means that at a 120k dead at 2-5% infected, we would have 1.5M to 3.9M dead at initial herd immunity.

@RetiredLEexec CNBC still has a few knuckledraggers - I think Abbot and DeSantis starting to shift their COVID-19 policies may have more to do with it.
@WeThePeople for now - they had a plea agreement not to charge him on the Turkish kidnapping charges - and his other federal crime- if he pleaded this one. Also not to prosecute his son.
