@AnnetteTRemain My sister and I allow them to have their feelings but we lean on each other whenever one of us needs to cry or vent about our loss and the regrets we have or the anger we have over the situation. And I stood up to my mom, told her her making it about herself or his failures wasn't helpful to us as we move through the grief process. I imagine it will all flood back during the holidays because as kids those were when we had good memories not pain and drama.

@AnnetteTRemain And when I say bad choices I mean drug and alcohol abuse 😢 which we had to witness. We were afraid to go on visitation because the people he was hanging around were scary. In adulthood we both knew not to count on him for anything. My sister tried to maintain contact but lots of times got out of and then my dad had a stroke and lost any chance he had to fix it. Tragic.😢

@AnnetteTRemain So sorry and thanks for sharing you had the right not to. Remember your story is your story. I know firsthand how toxic family can be. When my dad died in April, all my mom could do is talk about how evil he was to her and my brothers posted on SM what a great guy he was. But that wasn't me and my sister's experience. We loved our dad but because of shitty life choices and outdated ideas about family genes, he pretty much cut us off after the parents divorced.

@singlemaltgirl I am not blaming women in general just the women who put themselves out there as spokespeople for every female. If you're going to use your voice for changing an entire toxic culture, you can't say certain people are valid because of status while women who don't have status or privilege don't deserve the same consideration. That's not fair.😢

What you have survived is valid no matter what the abusers, law enforcement, friends, family, and your community says. You are loved and you are strong. Going out on a limb here but I venture to say the MeToo movement is an epic fail. Notice how the celebrity loudmouths of the movement like Alyssa Milano are completely silent when the rest of us know what Tate & Fuentes do to women. I guess if you're a rich white celebrity then they speak but if you're of color, LGBTQI+, impoverished, or a nobody survivor of DV and SA they don't care. This is why I never supported the movement. Hypocrites!😡

@AnnetteTRemain But as Sanders points out that's a bad move because there isn't enough time before Trump's swearing in to do a full confirmation hearing due to the holidays.
