@AnnetteTRemain And when I say bad choices I mean drug and alcohol abuse 😢 which we had to witness. We were afraid to go on visitation because the people he was hanging around were scary. In adulthood we both knew not to count on him for anything. My sister tried to maintain contact but lots of times got out of and then my dad had a stroke and lost any chance he had to fix it. Tragic.😢
@lisaannlm Sorry it went that way for your dad and he never got chance to fix it for himself and especially for you and your siblings. It's painful to mourn not just loss but loss of what you didn't have. It got easier for me over time as I saw them as people not just the heroes I wanted in life. Hope it has gotten less painful for you.
