May or may not have spent like $50 on pro special effects makeup for my face and hand paint to go with my Viking völva costume. Still debating the design of my headdress which will definitely have antlers but may also have a fake fox pelt. I love costuming 💕

Today’s uninvited earworm is “Day After Day” by Badfinger (incidentally a top contender for the dumbest band name award).

Reminder that when someone INTENTIONALLY redirects attention to the bad behavior of another while doing the same bad thing themselves, that is not projection. It's deflection.

The night before last I went to bed at 5:30pm and got up at 5am. Last night I managed to stay up until 8:30, but this morning I woke up at 5 again. Thanks, jet lag!

Both parents have tentatively agreed to immigrate to Spain with us in 14 years ❤️ Has to be 14 years because that's the first time my husband and I will both be able to retire early from our current careers. One or both of us will go back to school at that point and move on a student visa, and my parents will apply for retirement visas. I'd like to be a translator maybe; I have a degree in linguistics already.

Here’s a collection of food photos from my trip to Europe, just because

I don’t understand why airlines are allowed to overbook flights and put random people on standby against their will. I booked our flights SIX MONTHS AGO and I’m on standby but my husband has a confirmed seat. Why is that a thing they can do?

After about 10 hours of brainstorming I think I have a workable 15-year plan to immigrate to Spain 💕

BUT once you are in the EU it’s easier to migrate to other EU countries. So now I just have to convince my husband to get a fully remote job so we can move to Portugal on digital nomad visas.

Visiting Europe always makes me wish I lived in Europe, but it’s hard to do as an American and I’m not sure how we could. Apparently it’s fairly easy to immigrate to Portugal but we don’t know any Portuguese and that would still be a 9 hour flight to visit my sister.

No good photos of Finland yet but I do have 47 pictures of my sister’s cat

My sister and her wife are both at work and husband is sleeping so I’m sitting in the window seat by the open window, with coffee and a good book and a veeery tiny cat nearby.

I got coffee at the airport here and the lady was like is Brazilian medium roast ok? I said do you have a blond roast? She didn’t know what that was. So I said light roast? And she said oh the Brazilian roast is the light roast. I just said ok that’s fine, but like wat

In London Heathrow for a layover and by American standards I think I’m pretty reserved and conscientious but all these little quiet English ladies make me feel like a big clumsy American oaf

This same small child recently caused this incident: friend/dad was looking for his keys, late for an appointment, freaking out for AN HOUR. Finally the child is like “what’s wrong?” He says he can’t find his keys. The child says “oh! I know where they are!”, crawls under the bed and around behind the printer, and returns with his keys. “I hid them so they would be safe!”

So my friend’s small child is crying right now because he wants to hear “two little ants” on the radio but he can’t because IT’S A SONG HE MADE UP. And now his little brother is also crying because he is crying.

I fell down an internet rabbit hole and learned about Tana Mongeau and Brooke Schofield today, and I'm stuck on the irony of a co-host of a podcast about celebrities being cancelled eventually being cancelled herself for defending Trayvon Martin's killer on Twitter, causing her podcast to be cancelled as well.

I should’ve gone to sleep two hours ago but I’m too nervous/excited about leaving for vacation tomorrow and I can’t turn my brain off
