I should’ve gone to sleep two hours ago but I’m too nervous/excited about leaving for vacation tomorrow and I can’t turn my brain off

Reddit is going for the throat today with Kid Rock and I’m here for it. Some of the best:

Kid Rock makes music for guys who have visitation rights for their kids but choose not to see them.

Kid Rock makes music for people that know the exact legal amount of Sudafed you're allowed to buy at Walgreens.

Kid Rock is the Fred Durst of Ted Nugents.

My husband just swatted a wasp out of the air with a flip flop and then, because it wasn’t dead and he was afraid to get too close to it, he trapped it in a pill bottle. If you have questions about this, well, so do I.

I used to keep journals but I stopped for a few years. I’m getting back to it now (like literally started today) and remembering how it helps me: it soothes my anxiety and organizes my mind, and it gives me a sense of control. It can become time-consuming if I let it, but it’s basically a self-care practice so it’s worthwhile.

It also really annoys me when people at work ask me a million questions about something *after I tell them I don’t know any more about it than they do.* I can guess, but so can they. And yes both of these complaints are about specific people and yes they are the same people.

It really annoys me when people at work just say “this thing isn’t right.” Okay, what isn’t right about it? How should it be? Give me something to work with.

@lemontart You know those cat flaps which work with an electronic tag? That.

I wish I could have an open door policy at work but only for people who aren’t annoying.

And critical thinking isn’t looking too good either.

My nextdoor feed is hard evidence that adult literacy in my state is in dire straits and apparently has been for several decades.

I had to go back to using gel-x nails because I’ve been destroying my cuticles. And I’ve done a pretty terrible job applying them but I don’t have time to redo because I’m leaving at like 5am to go to a conference 🫠

Went to my first metal show tonight. There was one poor guy who really wanted there to be a mosh pit so he started one by himself during the first set, but he accidentally kicked someone who was just minding their own business and gave up until the next band came out. Then a man in a rubber horse mask joined him.

About to go to a death metal show (my first one!) and I tried to dress for it but I think I ended up looking like I got lost on my way to a Nightwish show instead.

2/ but one again she didn’t bother to answer. I really thought we were good friends, and finding out I was just a friend of convenience to her and she doesn’t even miss me was pretty devastating. I’m not sure how to get over it. She was my only local friend, so it’s a big loss in that way as well.

I had a friend who moved away recently. She didn’t tell me she and her partner were thinking about moving or looking for jobs in another state, they just called one night and were like “surprise! We’re leaving in a month!” I was pretty upset that she hadn’t warned me, and that I had texted her several days before that and she never answered, but when she answered my text finally a few days after, I responded. She never answered. That was 3 months ago. So last week I decided to try one last time,

Trying to make friends on bumble bff because I’m an anxious weirdo, and to that end, I am getting out of my comfort zone to meet a potential friend at a death metal show in town this week. Making friends is scary 😬

White Mob Massacres Black Residents in Slocum, Texas

Beginning on July 29, 1910, a white mob of hundreds massacred Black residents in and around Slocum, a majority-Black community near Palestine, Texas. According to some estimates, the mob killed as many as 200 Black people in the span of just two days. Hundreds more fled the area in the aftermath of the massacre, forced to leave their homes, farms, and businesses behind.

Amazon's first set of book recommendations for me today is labeled "For You in Biographies of General Murder & Mayhem". It's all Ann Rule, but that's okay because I do love Ann Rule.

About to frog the front left yoke of my sweater a second time because I can’t knit while I watch tv apparently. I messed up the eyelets. I need lifelines on this one I think.
