It is possible to be a BAD person and not know it.
And, by "bad", I mean prone to making immoral actions and to degrading the progress of your community, the species, or the Earth's ecosystem.
There are a lot of bad people out there.
Hypothesis: The percentage is decreasing.
But, we're becoming more aware of their existence. So, it seems like they are increasing.
Thinking about my childhood a lot lately. Unsure why.
Insight:
While you have control over who you become, you start from a reference point. You can only deviate from that point.
Like a tree that grows around an obstacle, it is still originally planted somewhere.
And, if scarred early on, it carries it onwards.
It might be able to "grow out of the scar", but the scar is still there.
Some scars make you stronger.
Some keep you from reaching your potential because of when they happened
Safely home from a 2-week vacation.
Almost not.
At the airport baggage claim conveyor I stepped into a gap between people to see if I could see a bag. The guy behind me started yelling at me.
I turned around and encountered a red-faced, wet-eyed man in his 30's ready to kill me. Apparently I blocked his view of the conveyor.
I stared at him.
Locked eyes for 5 seconds to show I wasn't afraid of him.
I turned around and ignored him, showing him my back in case he wanted to sucker-punch me.
