These are details of what I think was a small solar flare I captured yesterday. My understanding is that if it's not anchored to the surface it's a flare rather than a prominence.

Just learned that "half of all eligible black voters live in eight US states".

Back to familiar settings. (aka: Home office)

I really enjoy traveling - but for just a short while.

One week in Paris was enough for satisfaction.
But that city deserves a lot more trips.

Back to the grindstone!

And I just made it home!
Successful trip!
Yet, I'm still wheezing from running through the airport this morning.

Am I supposed to be mad when my 9am flight is rebooked to 6:40am at 9:48pm last night?
Oh, and it's my connection to catch my flight home from Europe.
No bitterness here. No, no, no...
(but I made it!)

Holy sh$#@!!
That protest was 120k people and was international news!
I actually missed it while exploring the neighborhood.
But, there sure were a lot of people walking around the Marais and clogging up the cafes.

There's nothing like a trip to a foreign country to shake up your assumptions and comfort zone about your home country.

Strolling through Paris at the moment thinking about how much more vibrant this place is than San Francisco. Then I learn about a 20k person protest about wages, inflation and the environment that is about to erupt 40 ft from where I'm sitting at this cafe.

The grass is rarely greener....

Hey @process,
I was flying over Ireland this morning and took this photo.
The sunrise over the clouds was spectacular.

This is where the evidence is for moving the children to Crimea.

An atrocity now in the works in Kherson, :

"Schoolchildren from Kherson will be evacuated to occupied Crimea."

This is mass kidnapping by a rogue state.

This is the sun in Calcium-K light. It's the wavelength that makes it look lavender. It shows the structure of the active regions very clearly. I took an image a day for two weeks and made a little video so you can see how it rotates.

My mother in law has died today.
We expected it.
She fought to stay alive to the last minute.
This gives me a question regarding what is living...what is life.
We said goodbye to her last night.
Nobody would want to be in that condition.
We're born.
We live.
We die.

Live well.

Then die quickly or gracefully.

Don't stretch it out.

Mini-update.

Ukrainian army continues to increase their stranglehold on Lyman. Russian defenders now split into two pockets. Northern pocket around Drobysheve has no way out. Southern pocket around Lyman itself still has an exit to the east, but it's already under direct fire from both the north and south.

Further north, the Ukrainian bridgehead at Kupyansk continues to slowly expand over the bodies of wasted Russian conscripts.

...

Putin just announced he's calling in the reservists.
Escalation.
This will accelerate the Russian casualties and prolong the war.

@Render
Do these ammunition numbers align with your understanding?
"... Russia abandoned a mechanized division worth of fighting vehicles, a reinforcing brigade's worth of artillery, and between a fifth and a third of it's artillery shell reserves in Ukraine behind in the Kharkiv Oblast."
