He once described how he demoed it for a big retailer when it was a prototype. They didn't have the chip made, so there was a cable coming out of it the size of a firehose to a big computer.
People would have parties around that toy. They would wear out the buttons and would ask to just replace the buttons because they were convinced their device was different than the others.

I worked for the guy that made that for Coleco! Eric Bromley. He was a VP during the Cabbige Patch craze. Nice guy.

Until AI can figure out the requirements of a project, software developers will still be needed. Their job executing will be easier, but how everything is expected to interact will still have room for interpretation, creativity and exploration.

Not much warning!
On the road to building an AI to save the world, I had a major meltdown.
My system environment (Docker) started failing yesterday.
No fun. No progress.
Short-story-result: The Docker images were all deleted.
This is like having your house disappear when you were about to watch TV.
Now I'm rebuilding everything from the evidence I had been collecting (config files) over the past 9 months.
I think I'll be having a martini later today.
