Just saw this COVID-19 trend in Canada following Canadian Thanksgiving. If you think it's bad now in the US......

This is the history of Testing, Hospitalizations and Deaths. While the positive tests are greatly outpacing the historical hospitalizations, we're still exposed to a massive uptick in daily death rates in the very near future. Hospitalizations are greater than at any time in this pandemic's history. And, unless therapies are getting much better, this is going to get ugly very soon. bit.ly/COVIDUSStates

@corlin Do you really think anyone in government is sufficiently focused and coordinated to pull that off? Unless it is a fundamental force in humanity, I think it's just a backward-seeking correlation.

@corlin Excellent essay! We now seem to be on the precipice of either figuring out how to reconcile individualism with freedom - or making a bigger mess of it:
"...people feel that they are at liberty to make up their own fiction and assert it as reality, even if their fictional version stands in stark contradiction to objectively verifiable facts, established law, accepted custom or self-evident ethical principles."

@XSGeek The US has a history of this happening. In the 19th century the opposing party was decimated. I've heard historians describe how it lead to social unrest.

@th3j35t3r Are you saying that their skills in Cognitive Dissonance are inadequate? They seem quite strong to me.

COVID-19 Death projections are probably going to exceed 1600/day within 10 days.
This data was pulled from Johns Hopkins and processed by me.
The green arrows show the relative ratios on this chart. The period we are entering far exceeds the prior peak and cases are not slowing.

@th3j35t3r If he thinks that the building is the actual seat of power, then let him stick around for a few more months. He'll start looking more and more stupid as the country moves on without him.

@luv2readtx Yes, and it highlights the incredibly difficult and uncomfortable work we have to do to mitigate this attitude and move back to a more moderate culture.

@gen0x And that will be the difficult journey our culture must take. Post-WWII Germany did it and they're OK now.

@HedgeTrimmerKnight A worthy debate. But, it calls into question the very definition of "bad". Are there really any "bad people"? Or, just misguided, confused, or stupid? At some point a person must be considered such a risk to the stability of society that they are considered "bad". When do they cross that threshold?

@kel They will literally have to fumigate the building before Biden moves in to remove the threat of COVID-19 to the new administration.

Our Nation's soul will be revealed today.
Are we a good people?
Are we a terrible people?
At the core of my anxiety is my attachment to my country for my identity. Someone else is deciding my identity, and I don't like it.
Solution: Break those bonds.
It is OK to observe your citizenship and continue to uphold the values instilled in the Constitution; Even fight for them.
But if the populace degrades to immoral values, there is no obligation to identify with them.

538 has Biden over 50% in Georgia in a recent uptick in polling averages and other factors influencing their algorithm. Odds are in Biden's favor at 57%.
Given Ossof's strong debate performance, they may also get a D senator.

@th3j35t3r, hello. I signed up to support you by Patreon, but it looks like it didn't make me a Pro user. Is that payment channel linked to my account, or should I re-direct my subscription to CS Pro instead?

Correction: Deaths lag Hospitalizations by 3 weeks.
(duh!)

Brace yourselves.
Hospitalizations seem to lag Deaths by 3 weeks. The nadir of the Hospitalization curve was about 3 weeks ago.
