I was inspired by @BosmangBeratna so threw together a quick #raspi project this afternoon. (I'd accumulated the parts ages ago but hadn't done the build yet.)
- 1x Raspberry Pi 2
- 1x USB GPS receiver
- 2x RTL-SDR dongles
- 1x 1080 MHz antenna
- 1x SMF splitter
Put it all together based on https://flightaware.com/adsb/piaware/install, and now I can do this:
That is cool as hell, dude
11/10!
@BosmangBeratna thanks mate!
Thanks for sharing that, my dude. Super cool 😎
@john_b Hi John. Are you using an SDR for ADSB?
@countZZero Yep, the previous generation of this:

@john_b Cool. I've been an amateur radio operator off and on for 45 years. SDRs, and their near limitless possibilities, are what got me back into the hobby in 2017.
@john_b Cool Karmann Ghia!
@Coctaanatis thanks! Hopefully I can get it back on the road soon... Just need to stop getting sidetracked with *other* projects lol.
@john_b
Your garage is WAAAAYYYYY too clean.
@teengee don't look under the Ghia! 😉
* 1090 MHz antenna, though I supposed 1080 would be close enough.
And just set it up to also share the feed with adsb.fi as well:
