Is the NY Times the only Twitter account that actually lost its blue check yesterday?

It's extortion. Cut off a finger to show everyone that he's super cereal. 😂

@jjmacnab apparently they have to manually remove blue checkmarks from accounts due to the ad-hoc nature the system was originally set up. It's probably 50-50 at this point with the accounts with blue checkmarks that I follow over there whether or not they still have them.

From reading some tweets of former Twitter folks, it seems that those verified checkmarks really did mean something and they can't be bulk removed.

NYT said they weren't going to buy a check, some dude with $8 whined, Clyde ran off to find someone to nuke it from that account.

It must really suck to work at Twitter right now.
