Lay Me Down by David Crosby and Graham Nash
Written by James Raymond.
There’s an interesting story behind this. Follow along if you like. 1/4
James Raymond was the biological son of David Crosby. He was given up for adoption at birth in 1962 - when Croz was 21.
Flash forward to 1994 - Croz was dying and in need of a liver transplant. Raymond’s adoptive father reached out to Croz, and the end result was that James and Croz met for the first time. Croz was aged 53 at that point. They liked one another and after Croz recovered from the transplant, they began writing music and performing together. 2/4
I forgot to mention that Raymond was also a musician and songwriter - without ever knowing his biological father’s identity.
Raymond and Crosby worked together on numerous projects. They were in a band together, wrote songs together, and toured together. They became good friends and frequent collaborators. 3/4
The lesson I take from this: where there is life, there is hope. Redemption is possible. If you take a chance to make amends for your past mistakes - you might just succeed.
The lyrics of Lay Me Down say it all. #cosomusic #RIPDavidCrosby

Thank you for this wonderful story. I have two sons celebrating 24 years clean/sober. Where there is breath, there is hope.
Although there are many dark hours in recovery, the sunlight of the Spirit can prevail.
