Lay Me Down by David Crosby and Graham Nash
Written by James Raymond.
There’s an interesting story behind this. Follow along if you like. 1/4
I forgot to mention that Raymond was also a musician and songwriter - without ever knowing his biological father’s identity.
Raymond and Crosby worked together on numerous projects. They were in a band together, wrote songs together, and toured together. They became good friends and frequent collaborators. 3/4
The lesson I take from this: where there is life, there is hope. Redemption is possible. If you take a chance to make amends for your past mistakes - you might just succeed.
The lyrics of Lay Me Down say it all. #cosomusic #RIPDavidCrosby
Thank you for this wonderful story. I have two sons celebrating 24 years clean/sober. Where there is breath, there is hope.
Although there are many dark hours in recovery, the sunlight of the Spirit can prevail.
Their relationship continued right up until the end. Crosby passed away earlier this week at the age of 81.
This is just a remarkable tale in my opinion. Crosby had many struggles with substances over the years. He did a lot of things in his youth for which he felt intense regret and shame.
Still, he was able to make amends for one of his perceived mistakes and have a nearly 30 year relationship with the son that he had believed to be lost to him forever.
4/4 + one more if you’d like.
