@JohnnyGenX Same here. Knew nothing about the guy. Then that tweet blew up and I thought it was a weird flex and great take down by Greta. And then this. Like, dude. How have you not been taken out earlier.
@kel So what are we watching? *fingers crossed* (Please tell me its Polar Express. Nobody says its Polar Express.) Not that I care, just as long as its a whatever movie *squints real hard* (He will say Polar Express)
@JolieSaboteuse Get together, he says. Have a few laughs.
@LiberalLibrarian @kel Every once in a while I wish I had big wheels again. And then I remember I'm a grandparent, knees are shot, and adult size big wheels are basically just recline trikes which are dangerous and kinda sorta suck.
@Nangie Me too. It started "its nice that its not as cold as last year". Then "Gee its nice out but I kinda miss the rain and frost." Now "OK, this is messed up."
@thewebrecluse Speaking as an old white male bigot, I slip up/forget myself/insert foot into my mouth too often. It's a learning process for me and I started learning late in life. So don't stop the education, folks like me need it whether we asked or not. (But also dont feel like its your job to teach us white folks either. You have a life. You deserve to live it. Much love to you and yours.)
Then again ... White people are notoriously blind to their own levels of racism, ethnocentrism, imperialism, and privilege so it stands to reason that a film made by such a person - primarily for an audience that has already been indoctrinated in the ideas of Indigenous people as lesser or the "nobility" of White Saviorism - would be considered one of the best films of all time and the glaring problems completely invisible except to those outside of the indoctrination.
@thewebrecluse There certainly are creators who come at their art from a strictly technical application. Or edit from a technical approach. Or have a cold rational foundation. But I might disagree slightly that creation is objective. I'm open to be corrected!!!
@KryoCatalyst Wow, nice to know I am not the only one. Fairly recent too. Not bad ones, not good ones, just ones that make me wonder if its time to schedule therapy.
@kel This is a person who hasn't been to Portland lol. Was a dude who shops at a grocery store I used to work at, he only wore sneakers. Well groomed, clean, polite, very naked. Never kicked out or talked to, management and staff just accepted sometimes we have a naked shopper.
@corlin Yep. Coppola famously quit bc he couldn't take the criticism and also was making bank on other things. Then rewatched his films and said, "I should have listened to some of the feedback" lol.
@corlin Is this going to be Minimalist Nolan or Obscure Beret Wearing Nolan? Will it be a history lesson OR the actual mock up of the bomb is a metaphor for Amazon deforestation/Fair Trade coffee?
@corlin I think the topic is important. And I like the idea he uses entirely practical effects. But the dude is way up his own ego he can't tell the difference between night and dark room. He's the student who argues with the teacher over red marks on their paper. Hated Tenet. Wanted, but didnt, to like Interstellar.
@Citizen_rma Twitter has had more new subscribers than ever in its history. And that's even including NO bots, per the captain's promise to eliminate them when he purchased the....sorry, I'm laughing but this is serious...anyway, he successfully brought in MORE users while reducing waste within the company...oops, now I am projectile vomiting and can't see my keyboard. #nobots #cosohumor
@DJNoneYa That's weird because Jack survived. How else did they make Titanic 2?
@sumpnlikefaith Oh for sure. I guess I just didn't understand so thanks for clarifying. There is tons of that micromanagement of thoughtspeak online. I've blocked plenty of my fellow social liberals bc of this. Like, dude, I like masala. I know I aint Indian. Dont at me for liking masala and stay out of my lane. Not YOU specifically, you are a good egg.
@sumpnlikefaith Speaking as a white male of privilege, while I moslty agree with you... there is a lot of cooks out there who will claim ownership of ethnic cuisine without acknowledging where it came from and its associations. I see it on TV all the time. In fact, on TV the chefs will be glib about it. Clearly not you, you are good people. I am saying "cultural appropriation" over food is a real thing and can be subtle. (that last point is my very slight disagreement with your definition)
@MookyTroubadour When I lived with relatives in Ann Arbor, they insisted I get NDoor. We lived in a housing complex with POC, LGBT, UofM researchers, etc. Holy Frikkin Cow are people on that app major outloud bigots. No shame or self monitoring. WTactualF is up with people.
@RavenCutrereULC I rewatched this recently and it remains so relevant today that it's scary how prescient she/they was.
My handle is jackge but as you can see I am using RHSJack here.
