This is our first 4th without a dog in 22 years. Had to put our last one down a few weeks ago. I miss him, but I'm glad I don't have to watch him suffer from these idiotic fireworks. I hate this holiday.

@h8cloz They are such a big part of our lives. I am truly sorry for your loss. But the fireworks thing, yeah, it’s awful for them.
@h8cloz We are so lucky. We have a dog, but utterly ignores fireworks. He acts like he doesn't even notice them as noteworthy.
So. Lucky.
@CoyoteConscious I wonder why that is? Was he exposed early in life and conditioned to it? I know dogs can be trained and conditioned to ignore loud noises. Police and service dogs for example.
