Voters in Arab American strongholds likely tipped Michigan in Trump’s favor

*Their opinion on woman likely dovetails as well

@gemswinc Aren't they in for a surprise. Israel intends to annex more West Bank territory, and will look the other way when Netanyahu razes Gaza to the ground. But hey, they sure showed Kamala, didn't they. 🙄

@gemswinc I'm convinced that sexism was a huge factor in this election. It isn't being acknowledged sufficiently. Arab Americans and many others as well.

@gemswinc Should I laugh or cry? I think I'll laugh. 😁

@ShaneArtBooks @gemswinc

I remember back in 2016 when they talked to a voter in Utah, it's always stuck in my mind how he said "Trump is awful, I dislike him and disagree with everything he says - but I can't bring myself to vote for a woman." 🙄

@nonayadambidnes @gemswinc

In October, a grocery store clerk helped me to take my groceries to my car. We started talking about the coming election. He told me then that he couldn't vote for Kamala because, "I don't think a woman should be president." I asked why. He had no answer.

@ShaneArtBooks @gemswinc

Ever since Hillary Clinton ran people have been saying stupid shit like that. Someone told me that they didn't have a problem with a woman president, just not her. Or her. Or her. 🙄

Some idiot said "I wouldn't have a problem with someone like Tulsi Gabbard." FFS then that's all I need to know about you.

@nonayadambidnes @ShaneArtBooks @KittsMotto You made the point that I was going to add, thatb it's not just men that feel that way, leery for a woman as president. Jealousy or cultural brainwashing?

@ShaneArtBooks @gemswinc
Sexism *and* racism. I know there are a lot of other issues as well, but a future history student's view might be something like this:

2008: Democrats run charismatic Black man and win.
2016: Democrats run white woman and lose.
2020: Democrats run boring old white guy and win.
2024: Democrats run Black woman and ...

Student: Wait, they WHAT?

@ImagineThat @ShaneArtBooks Yeah, my original thought, before Biden stepped down was that Kamala was a bridge too far for our unelightened citizens. I found her campaign spectacular though, and suspended disbelief ( big time ) Back to reality.

@gemswinc yeah. I'm Done with the whole middle east and middle easterners

@gemswinc You're smarter than I. :)

I've had several very good friends who were ME but most of them were clearly women at least partially rebelling (at university) and my neighbor's who took care of me when I broke my back - the hubby was ME. But anyone still attached to the ME over the US's best welfare is where I draw the line.

@TrueBloodNet It is the treatment of women, where I draw the line. I've not known ME men or women personally, however

@gemswinc That's the number 2 reason for me. Here's where the stupid burns.... my neighbor is divorcing her ME husband for being over bearing, undervaluing women and wanting her to have another child (it would be her 4th) because she has a life to live: She voted for the Pumpkin dictator...

@TrueBloodNet Too beat down to see women have real value; completely uninformed? I basically can't fathom

@gemswinc She's very independent - maybe too much so. She goes off like a rocket if anyone says she can't do something or even suggests she DO do something. It's really cognitive dissonance.
