I've discovered 30% Vinegar. I bought a gallon, and at 1tbs per quart for a general purpose glass cleaner, I should have enough for the rest of my life, with much less plastic waste. Works great too!

@CauseEffects Yes, though I have only used household strength for that. had never seen 30% offered before

@gemswinc also soaking faucet screens if they are built up with sediment.

@gemswinc It will be perfectly preserved for all that time too. Great for so many things. I tbsp. in a sink full of water will kill mold spores on all your citrus fruit in this warm, humid weather. A kitchen staple for sure!

@gemswinc i use the 30% to kill Canada thistles. works fast, & as long as you don't overspray, it doesn't hurt anything around the thistle (unfortunately it does not work on poison ivy)

@gemswinc just remember that 30% vinegar is a pretty strong acid & wear gloves/eye protection when using it

@redenigma @gemswinc
Big fan of 30% vinegar. I can almost kill poison oak with it.

@peeppeepcircus @gemswinc we don't have poison oak here (despite what people insist. it doesn't grow in New England) but i've not had much luck using it on poison ivy, maybe because poison ivy loves acidic soil?

@redenigma @gemswinc people around me use RoundUp on the leaves of poison oak to carry the poison to the rest of the plant. However, 30% vinegar is the most effective thing I could find as an alternative to that.

@peeppeepcircus @gemswinc i never spray glyphosate. i cut & paint the stump to kill the roots. that way the poison doesn't go anywhere it shouldn't
