Eagerly anticipating arrival of the replacement modem after a spate of delays. The extended period of limited data access was mostly manageable, except that our carrier's local towers have been glitchier than normal. It's concerning when one considers how truly dependent society has become on modern communications technology. For years I've wanted to pursue getting a #HamRadio license and equipment to support the rural comms safety net. Guess what? The time has come to do this.
It's no secret that Memorial Day weekend is a period when there is increased traffic throughout America. As such, naturally, the odds of vehicle accidents increases as well. Wherever one may be, please exercise extra common sense behind the wheel. Lives depend on it.

A yellow jacket nest once showed up on my balcony and the maintenance guy tried to use some pesticide on them. It only pissed them off. He also knocked their nest down onto the sidewalk below and that only pissed them off more. They came at the sliding glass door like a barrage. I finally got rid of them a few days later with a spray bottle of dawn soap and water. They didn’t like that either, they floated around and gave me the stink eye but they never returned.
Good grief, what a week it's been. Not going into a play-by-play, but I'm not really bent about our modem's demise roughly an hour ago. Given the gauntlet the kids and I ran, no house internet for a few days gives us a welcome and overdue period to hang out together playing console games and being generally silly. Yeah, this is exactly what we need right now. 😄
@sentientdessert @PaganMother got this from someone else here on CoSo, and I hold it close to my heart now. Every time I hear “you must tolerate my intolerance” I remind myself of this:
@fugitive247 Many Home Depot stores have a bin for worn-out flags, and most if not all VFW will take old flags to ensure they're recycled or burned properly.
Americans with wealth and power don't generally care about the middle and lower classes. Even worse, they are doing real damage to the people they don't care about.
But why? Either these well-positioned people are 100 percent out of touch with the realities of middle-class life in our country, or they're contemptuous of those they consider inferior, or they believe so strongly in individual 'freedom' that even the word 'social' is repugnant to them.

Ahh... Faintly twinkling stars and the blissful fragrance of honeysuckle in bloom on a refreshing spring night.
@fugitive247 On more than one occasion I put the coffee in the water reservoir. That’s also fun when you’re sleep deprived.
@fugitive247 I have a golf hat. It has a Masters ball mark attached to it. A big "hang in there" to you both. 👊
