Well, it looks like Monday is gearing up to be quite a soaker. What condition some of these rural roads might be in on Tuesday is anyone's guess. Not worried about getting my son and I to our polling place - 4WD FTW!
Had the pleasure today of kicking around Mountain Home with my youngest. The fabulous afternoon rays at Flashbacks Retroshop made capturing this image irresistible.
Peace, love, and groovy vibes to all y'all. 💖
Well, it's currently 67°F and blissfully peaceful in my neck o' #TheOzarks. Sitting on the stoop, there's patchy light fog on the ground, but a handful of pretty, twinkling stars overhead. One of my bunny neighbors stopped by to say hello, and this busy tank of an armadillo has got to be one of the largest ones I've ever seen-- bigger than a basketball! #LifeIsGood
So, of course I kept 15 home the past two days. Thank goodness Ms. Dewey, the MHPS superintendent, had the sense and compassion to excuse those absences. Of course, naturally, it's time to get everyone back on track.
My oldest died only two years ago.
This past April, 23 survived a rollover wreck.
My youngest attends American public school in #TheOzarks.
I don't have access to my car until 23's is fixed.
Powerlessness, uncertainty, and anxiety are a bitch of a combination.
A needed rain band is approaching. Great, except that early this morning a major intersection in Mt. Home was forced into becoming a 4-way stop until further notice.
Heaven knows there's too many in the Twin Lakes area whose driving skills suck even in good conditions. And this on the last day of the Baxter County Fair, to boot. Good luck, dear townies! #ARwx #TheOzarks
Okay, so that was fun - spending an intense hour crammed in the bathroom with the kids & cat as nature unleashed its wrath. What sunrise is soon reveal, will be interesting, no doubt.

Probability for eclipse viewing remains high for much of north central Arkansas
Tornado warning in the Twin Lakes area, heading towards Baxter County. Awaiting NWS inclusion in the watch corridor.
Meanwhile in #TheOzarks, the Twin Lakes area Corp of Engineers has been scrambling to be prepared as possible for the inevitable influx of Eclipse tourists. At present, all state operated campgrounds are booked solid for the event.
Yours truly is opting to fall back on decades' worth of blizzard and hurricane experience: stock up, hunker down, and shelter in place. Screw the idiot convention. Pandemic gentrification already borked the balance years ago

Looks like ETA for the Twin Lakes area is around 5:30. #ARwx #TheOzarks
The highlighted area is under a tornado watch. Whatever's going to happen is still a couple of hours away from my humble blue dot. At least 15 should be safely home well before showtime. #ARwx #TheOzarks
Prescribed burns throughout the Twin Lakes area are giving a sultry warm glow to tonight's moonrise. #TheOzarks
So, @TerraFang 's school district opted for early dismissal today. This is <1 hour of accumulation right now. Safe travels to all affected. #ARwx #TheOzarks
Meanwhile, in town today...
Ffs. SHS & ilk.

Meanwhile, in the Twin Lakes area of #TheOzarks, the upcoming solar #eclipse in early April is getting increased attention from residents in the path of totality.
This video has no audio, but its representation of said path from Mexico to Canada is pretty cool. Enjoy.
