Watching millions of people line up like sheep to have their every detail siphoned up and sold by #BlueSky is a helluva thing.
But then, this place wasn't made for everyone. It was only made for the people it's for. #CoSoRocks
^^ Why does #BlueSky succeed to such a massive extent while CounterSocial grows slowly?
It's mostly because the algorithms used by big social media are deliberately designed to trigger a dopamine response.
As a new user to those platforms, your experience is manipulated by fake engagement to make you feel good about participating. You're also shown what you like, as inferred from the data it collects about you the moment you join.
It's addictive, like a drug, and likewise created for profit.
^^ If our elected representatives understood how this works and the power it has given to the malevolent owners of big social media platforms, they would regulate the sh*t out of it tomorrow.
That they haven't is probably the single biggest reason why we're in the mess we're in. #sadbuttrue
