If you couldn’t “innovate” you either have a crappy team or you suck as a manager. Since you already indicated you suck as a manager, I’ll go with the “you suck as a manager.”
If I was Bezos and a manager told a paper that there were days “nothing got done” I’d fire that manager — because it is obvious he is incompetent. Blaming it on working from home is a cop out. It’s admitting you don’t have the skill set. Worse, you are willing to blame ANYTHING but your gross incompetence.
