Today we are all MAGA

“Let’s hope this anecdote is never debunked. It’s too good a story: about Americans who did not hesitate to put their country before the politics that so often plagues it. The attack on Reagan was the last (known) assassination attempt on a president – until a few hours ago.”

Which is why Reagan put party over country in his quip?

I’m an American. I will never be MAGA.

“The attack on Reagan was the last (known) assassination attempt on a president – until a few hours ago.”

Except Trump isn’t President. President BIDEN is President.

“There is only one appropriate response to such horrors. Today, we are all MAGA.”

No, YOU are MAGA. I’m not a misogynistic racist nor will I vote for one.

“If there is anything left tying America’s national fabric together, it’s that such instances of violence can’t be tolerated.”

MAGA is all about violence.

This person is clearly forgetful.

“Trump’s biggest fans and biggest critics should not hesitate to come together on this issue.”

Not because they discovered they love Trump, but firmly believe NO ONE deserves to be shot.

In all this brouhaha every is talking about comparing this to Reagan (who WAS President at the time, unlike Trump) and totally forgetting that the one who actually suffered the most was James Brady, Reagan’s Press Secretary.

This is important.

While Reagan didn’t change his stance on guns as President (nor will Trump), James Brady decided enough was enough and worked to create stronger and tougher gun violence laws.

This SHOULD be what a President should be about: not using gun violence as another means to get elected, but to engage in legislation to slow the proliferation of guns in the US.

Instead we have op-eds that incorrectly make a comparison to Reagan to argue, in the most disingenuously way possible, that we are all MAGA.

This is dumb.

I’ve read more than one column that has said, “This changes a man” — it did not change Reagan, it most CERTAINLY will not change Trump.

This is more moronic idiocy on the part of the press who outright refuses to learn from history. History is what they say it is, fuck facts, they are the historians in the room.

Except facts matter and the press is pushing a false narrative. Again.

We call what the press writes stories because they frequently deviate from the truth.

This isn’t to say they are all liars, but many would rather sit in a bubble, regurgitating other press releases and toss in their own speculation, rather than do ten minutes or research.

Reality is NOT defined by the press. Facts are not quantum entities waiting for observation by the press for the wave function to collapse. They exist with or without the press.

But the press has decided to tell you only a portion of the story.

Because reasons.

@feloneouscat the whole article is full of shit. Some on the left use violence primarily as a tool in protest against government violations of our rights (which they shouldn't). But the MAGA right glorify violence as a bludgeon in the furtherance of their fantasies where white christo-fascists get to tell everyone what to do. Most reasonable Americans understand that our "response" to Columbine and Sandy Hook was the beginning of the end of legitimate firearm debate.
