“If somebody wants to make a motion against me, bring it,” McCarthy told CNN’s Manu Raju at a press conference. “There has to be an adult in the room. I am going to govern with what’s best for this country.”
Let’s all remember that the ONLY FUCKING REASON this came to a head is because McCarthy IS NOT A FUCKING ADULT. It was willing to let a HANDFUL blackmail him to shutdown the government by threatening to oust him as Speaker.
That’s not being an adult.

You know WHY much of what the Democrats passed in the House never was voted on in the Senate?
Mitch McConnell. As majority leader he set the calendar of what bills would be voted on and which he would kill by inaction. He killed MOST of the Democratic bills by never scheduling them for a vote.
He is the most undemocratic and anti-American politician — he has wielded absurd power, allowed corruption, and has excused undemocratic actions.
He’s just been devastating to democracy in this country. Just how much potential good he’s killed dead and how much repugnance he’s successfully pulled off.
The mind reels…
@feloneouscat you nailed Kremlinkevin! little barking chihuahua!! Trump Butt sniffer
@feloneouscat they are like a bunch of dramatic teenage girls
@feloneouscat actually, my granddaughter would say it’s more like a bunch of teenage boys who seem to be the most drama ridden in her high school
@feloneouscat That's at least partly because Nancy Pelosi is busy getting rich, and considering her own personal missions above the needs of the country.
The fact that she's good at it may make her better than McCarthy, but it doesn't make her good.
Hardly. Her husband ran a venture capital firm. That made them very rich.
What did you think her husband did? Buy ice cream?
Seriously, if you are going to make an argument make one that is halfway realistic.
@feloneouscat He must have meant Pelosi 🤣🤣🤣
@feloneouscat This is not at all what happened. Just saying.
Oh? Please elaborate. He already has one person who wants to oust him (it only requires one for a vote — that was the agreement he forged with the hardliners).
What happened is that the ultra-conservatives cannot get any of their goofy bills out of committee much less to a vote. So they felt if they could threaten McCarthy’s speakership they could get through blackmail what they couldn’t get through legislation.
Never mind McCarthy and the White House had ALREADY NEGOTIATED THIS, the ultra-brats figured they could hold the US hostage and make things worse by devastating programs.
But I got it all wrong, so you will explain?
@feloneouscat McCarthy agreed to this. We all knew this was going to happen.
And SURPRISE (but not really) it did. McCarthy took the country to the tip of ALL BECAUSE HE WAS NOT THE ADULT IN THE ROOM.
We should NEVER have a Speaker so beholden to a handful of idiots that don’t even understand what their job is, much less how to write a freaking bill.
The gross reality is that Kevin succumbed to the Republican Party who said, “Look, we’ll take you down — some of us need to get re-elected.” This is, IMHO, what happened in the back rooms.
Because, at the end of the day, Republicans RIGHT NOW can easily lose their hold on Congress. They look like amateurs who don’t have a freaking clue what they are doing.
McCarthy’s stunt did them a LOT OF DAMAGE and a lot of negative press that they cannot spin as the fault of Biden.
This was a massive fail for Republicans and is guaranteed to be used against them in the upcoming races. The ads practically write themselves.
This doesn’t affect just the House, but with McConnell’s programming blue screening, the Republicans have very little to call their own. They want to argue the economy sucks, but the reality is it doesn’t (they took the minority role in the Senate hoping that Biden would be a disaster — it was an interesting gamble that failed).
House Republicans are trying to impeach Biden but can’t find a high crime or misdemeanor — it’s all very comical except THEY ARE WASTING OUR MONEY!
As guys that I worked with used to say, Republicans “screwed the pooch” — they made bad gambles and lost. Every. Damn. Time.
“But doesn’t that make you happy?”
No! Our government is designed for compromise — buy-in from both sides of the aisle. When one side acts like a bunch of jackasses from a clown show this doesn’t give me a whole lot of comfort. I live where our state government is a jackass from an authoritarian clown show.
We don’t need this at the federal level.
@feloneouscat Mitch is not the Majority Leader of the Senate anymore. He is the minority leader. Schumer is in charge.
Let’s back up: when Nancy Pelosi was Speaker, Mitch McConnell was Majority Leader.
So, like I was saying, Pelosi got much of the business of government accomplished while Mitch McConnell killed bills without a single vote.
He was proud of that. I consider that anti-American.
@feloneouscat I agree with you on that. A travesty. I hate his guts SO much. I call him Moscow Mitch. He took money from Moscow, and shared it with several colleagues. Ad who cab forget the tear whe a big GOP delegation spent the 4th of July in Moscow? A pretty pointed signal to us back home.
Nancy Pelosi never required the acceptance of a handful of Representatives. Not once did she bow down to the demands of a few to carry on the business of government.
Hell, she didn’t let the executive browbeat her.
McCarthy is a chihuahua who barks at anything and everything but in the end is still just a little dog on a leash.
