A different kind of Thanksgiving: Not to give thanks to an invisible spirit or cosmic force for all of the material benefits you've acquired over the past year, or your avoidance of one catastrophe or other;

But rather to find ways to give to others in a way that will help them be thankful.

Not to look for blessings from something or someone else, but to transform yourself into a blessing for others.

The farmers would usually be done with crop harvesting by the end of November. The gathering of friends, neighbors and family took place to be thankful for that bounty.

That day fell on the completion of the harvesting, not any particular day. As a young girl, it was meaningful to be thankful for the food on our table.

Today, and every day, I give thanks for the bounty in my life. May your day fill you with the bounty you need to be thankful.
